Why this kit matters

The Type 74 Tank was a main battle tank used by the Japan Self-Defense Forces, introduced in the mid-1970s. It was designed to replace the Type 61 and featured advanced technology for its time, including a 105mm rifled gun and a sophisticated fire control system. The winter version highlights the tank’s operational versatility in cold climates.

Its development was part of Japan’s post-war rearmament, reflecting the country’s strategic needs during the Cold War era. The Type 74 remained in service for several decades, showcasing Japan’s engineering prowess and commitment to national defence.
